Our percussion section is open to everyone! Whether you’re an ASU student or a member of the community, you’re welcome to audition and be part of our team—no matter where you go to school.

  • The video image should only contain a view of the performer from head to toe.

  • The camera should be level with the performance surface. Do not include extreme angles.

  • You MUST play with a metronome clearly audible in your video.

  • Be sure that we can see your mark time throughout each exercise. Your full foot should lift off the ground. (Front Ensemble does not need to mark time to their exercises.)

  • Where possible, please perform on an instrument (not a practice pad). Bass drummers will have a front profile.

Directions to Percussion Blockhouse:
From the University Drive and Rural Road intersection travel north on Rural Road. Take a right, going east, on E 6th Street toward the Verde Dickey Dome. Take an immediate left, going north again, once in the 59E parking lot. Follow the road as it travels north and then east again, soon opening up with a larger parking area on your right hand side. The Percussion Blockhouse will be on the south side of the parking lot.

 

FAQ's

Q: Do I have to be an ASU student?
No. As long as you graduated high school, you can participate in our program as a community member!

Q: Do I need to bring my instrument?
No. We will be using the ASU equipment but you will need to provide your own sticks and mallets. Bring your pads!

Q: Do I have to pay for parking?
Yes. ASU Transit will ticket anyone parked in the ASU parking lots.

Q: I can only participate for one of the days. Should I still show up?
Yes. Email Roberto at rvpaz@asu.edu so that your respective staff is aware. The more we see you in person, the better.
